Summary of Position

The Residence Life Manager (RLM) at Allegheny College is a pivotal member of the Residence Life team, responsible for creating a vibrant and supportive living environment within the campus residence halls. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Residence Life, the RLM oversees the day-to-day operations of the residence halls and provides supervision and guidance to the Residence Life Coordinator(s), Head Resident Advisors (HRAs), and the Resident Advisors (RAs). The RLM is critical in developing and implementing curriculum-related programs and initiatives that promote community building, personal growth, and academic success among residential students. This position would be expected to live on campus (housing provided) and would be provided a meal plan.

As the Residence Life Manager, you will:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Provide supervision and support to professional coordinators and student RAs, foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and serve as mentor and role model for RAs. Responsible for creating, supporting, and facilitating student staff programming, training, and events.
  • Program Development, Implementation, and Assessment: Create and implement Res. Life curriculum, and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Crisis Management and Student Support: serve as a first pro-staff responder in on-call Manager/Coordinator rotation. Requires availability and response outside of normal business hours. Reinforce hall policies and procedures, and serve as a resource and advocate for residents.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach: cultivate positive relationships across campus, and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and feedback sessions. Promote campus-wide initiatives, events, and student support resources.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage day-to-day operations, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned, as well as collaborate with offices across campus.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred, and 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Successful performance in program development, and project coordination
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills in the area of people and project management

  • Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships

Allegheny College is a residential college that requires students to live on campus during their undergraduate experience. We believe the academic experience is enhanced by the residential and co-curricular learning experiences. The Office of Residence Life is responsible for general operations and administration of housing, residential education, and living and learning programs.

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

The expected minimum salary range starting point for this position is $45,000 annually.

On April 20,2024 the US Department of Labor announced a final rule, which will take effect on July 1, 2024. The rule updates and revises the regulations issued under section 13(a)(1) for the Fair Labor Standards Act. Revisions include increases to the standard salary level threshold for exempt positions. Where positions currently are considered exempt from overtime, with the upcoming July 1 revisions, some positions may convert to non-exempt, based on the threshold amounts which are regulated by the Federal Government.
