Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Senior Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer - Boca Raton, FL.

The Office of Civil Rights and Title IX (OCR9) at Florida Atlantic University strives to uphold ethical behavior and ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Investigates discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct allegations that fall under Title IX/Title VI/Title VII/ADA/ADEA/and other AA/EEO discrimination and harassment complaints that involve faculty, staff, and students. Investigations include but are not limited to analyzing complaints; identifying allegations and relevant witnesses; interviewing parties and witnesses; gathering documentation and evidence; drafting detailed investigative reports that summarize, analyze, and apply evidence to relevant regulations and policies; and explaining and participating in University grievance proceedings.

  • Provides advice and guidance to students, faculty, and staff on issues of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct.

  • Maintains collaborative relationships with academic and administrative units, human resources personnel, legal counsel, university police, dean of students' office, victim services, and external entities to ensure effective and timely efforts to address issues of civil rights compliance.

  • Respond to and provide guidance regarding requests for accommodations based on qualified disability for employees, job applicants, and guests.

  • Facilitates trainings about topics specific to discrimination and harassment.

  • Responds to external agencies, including assistance with drafting position statements on behalf of the University.

  • Ensures investigative files are well-documented throughout the investigative process. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes documenting events within the investigatory process.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment training programs for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Provides periodic and timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to leadership and other parties.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of a case management database to organize, manage, and track reported concerns.

Minimum Qualifications:A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
