Job Summary:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead and execute complex electrical engineering projects, driving innovation and operational excellence within our manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge electrical control systems, while mentoring and guiding a team of engineers and specialists.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain PLC logic, industrial communication networks, adjustable speed motor controls, feedback control systems, three-phase equipment, positioning servo drive systems, and associated electrical documentation.
- Collaborate and influence multi-functional teams in the planning, design, and implementation of complex engineering projects.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in production equipment and plant systems. Develop innovative solutions and implement them efficiently.
- Conduct safety reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging advanced technologies like vision system technology and camera-based inspection systems, ultrasonics, robotics, automation, feedback loops and control systems.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, specialists, and interns, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Lead projects from inception to completion, including scope definition, cost estimation, requesting appropriations, obtaining quotations, initiating orders, design, design reviews, scheduling, parts tracking, resource allocation, recommendation of spare parts, attending FAT/SAT, planning and leading executions, management of contractor / external support, commissioning, qualification, startup support, and punch list follow-ups.
- Develop and execute FAT, commissioning, and qualification verification plans.
- Troubleshoot and support Maintenance, Reliability, Continuous Improvement, and Operations teams, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
- Adhere to all applicable safety NEC and GMP requirements, quality system procedures (such as Change Control, Document Control, etc.), and engineering standards. Develop and maintain engineering standards and recommend engineering business process improvements.
- Stay current on industry trends and innovations, research new technologies, and make recommendations to Leadership regarding the pursuit and implementation of innovations.
- Maintain relationships with contractors and suppliers.
- In this dynamic manufacturing environment where customer demands must be met, the Senior Electrical Engineer may be required to support production or execute project activities beyond the standard 40-hour work week schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Successful use of PLC logic, Allen Bradley or Siemens, industrial communication networks, adjustable speed motor controls, feedback control systems, three-phase equipment, and positioning servo drive systems; and ability to learn new systems and technologies.
- Proven experience with vision system technology, especially camera-based inspection systems and programming software.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and projects that may require cross-functional team members and/or collaboration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior engineers, technicians, or specialists.
- Established expertise in industry-standard software tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN.)
- Experience with using Microsoft Office software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Deep understanding of PLC logic, Allen Bradley and Siemens.
- Previous work experience in a GMP or ISO certified manufacturing facility.
- Experience with high-speed converting equipment and plant electrical/mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
