Job Summary
The SFA (Special Features Authorization) Chiller Supervisor will lead the design and release of customizations to chiller equipment; will work in a cross-functional development group; managing a variety of tasks and activities are required in this dynamic environment; solve complex problems where no precedence exists.
Responsibilities:
- Lead creation of customizations of chiller equipment as laid out by customer specifications.
- Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points.
- Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements, which may include stress calculations, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
- Develops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
- Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department
- Component verification
- Use of thermodynamic software
- Work with software team to develop and verify chiller system controls
- Plan and oversee performance testing then utilize the results to validate designs, control, and analytical models
- Create and validate analytical performance models
Requirements: - Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 4-8 years of experience in an engineering field (previous experience with chiller system is required)
- Understanding of electrical schematic and drawings
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
- Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of NPD and ETO/SFA Engineering
- Excellent project management skills and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with analytical performance models, 2-Phase and 1-Phase heat transfer fluids
- Experience writing performance test requests
- Knowledge of psychometric chart and (HCFC/HFC) refrigeration cycles
- Basic knowledge of CFD and/or FEA software, preferred Ansys
- Basic understanding of manufacturing limitations, break sheet metal and formed copper tubes
