Position Summary:

The primary purpose of the Research Coordinator position is to manage the planning, execution, and completion of a survey-based research project, which includes survey design, data collection, data management, compliance, and communication with stakeholders. The Research Coordinator is responsible for all project management including organizing meetings, facilitating communication between project stakeholders, and ensuring that all project activities adhere to the established timelines and standards. The Research Coordinator will collaborate with the research team to design and distribute surveys, monitor data collection processes, contact participants for survey completion, and ensure secure data handling and transfer. This position ensures that the project complies with all regulatory and ethical requirements, including IRB standards, and manages the documentation necessary to meet these standards. This position also requires drafting and editing reports and preparing regulatory submissions. The role will provide regular progress reports and ensure effective communication with the research team and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the project. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for contributing to research that drives meaningful change in healthcare outcomes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Knowledge in the area of Public Health, Health Informatics, Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related discipline is a must. Familiarity with software for data management and project planning, such as REDCap, Qualtrics, or equivalent platforms, is required. Strong leadership, communication, and regulatory knowledge, including IRB and VA-specific compliance, are important, as is prior experience in mental health or healthcare research. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project management software, and data collection tools. Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues related to survey distribution or data collection platforms, ensuring smooth execution of the project workflow.

Project Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in coordinating research projects, particularly those involving multiple stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage project timelines, facilitate communication across diverse teams, and ensure completion of tasks according to predefined standards.

Survey Development and Data Collection:
Prior experience in survey design and administration, including drafting survey questions, distributing surveys, and troubleshooting technical issues during survey execution.
Strong understanding of best practices for maximizing survey response rates, including optimizing for specific populations.
Knowledge of data collection techniques and protocols to ensure the secure, ethical, and accurate handling of research data. Experience in overseeing the secure transfer of data containing sensitive information and maintaining compliance with data protection regulations is essential.

Data Management and Analysis:
Proficiency in data management, including data entry, storage, and handling processes to ensure accuracy and completeness. Experience performing quality checks and routine audits to maintain data integrity is critical.

Communication and Collaboration:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide clear project updates and present data findings via written reports and/or presentations. Facilitate effective communication between internal and external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills in a dynamic research environment.

Scheduling and Meeting Coordination:
Strong organizational skills, including experience in scheduling meetings, documenting discussions, and tracking project milestones. Attention to detail in managing documentation, meeting notes, and project timelines is essential.

Regulatory and Ethical Compliance:
an understanding of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols and other regulatory requirements related to research involving human subjects. Experience maintaining compliance with regulatory documentation, such as consent forms, and ensuring ethical standards are upheld throughout the research process.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Preferred qualifications include project management certification (e.g., PMP) and experience with government-funded research, particularly within the VA or healthcare sectors. Expertise in survey design, data management (REDCap, Qualtrics), and statistical analysis (SPSS, SAS, R) is highly valued. Familiarity with health disparities, moral injury, and mental health frameworks is a plus.
