The Director of Special Hazards is responsible for the supervision of activities and performance of Special 
Hazards Sales and Installations. The primary goal of this position is to help develop and maximize team 
potential in the areas of productivity, sales revenues, profits, customer retention, and to establish a unified, highend level of performance market wide. This position will lead strategic development, create and implement 
training programs, establish procedures and standards across the market. This position will ensure all 
employees in the Special Hazards departments are being effective and efficient in their daily work activities and 
that all transactions with customers are handled in a timely and professional manner. The position will act as 
the liaison between the Special Hazards division and all other divisions within the market.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

* Achieve and maintain highest level of customer satisfaction by developing procedures internal and external training programs, monitoring and assisting in resolving issues, and interacting with customers to understand their business needs and objectives so that we can further enhance the special hazards processes and procedures.

* Establish documented standards for all Special hazards related processes, including Outlook, ProjectBuilder, BuildingReports, etc. to ensure consistent performance across the market.

* Effectively communicate the Pye-Barker (PB) value proposition and train Account Managers on what makes Pye Barker unique in the marketplace.  Stress value, not price. 

* Monitor sales and profitability performance through various tools and measures, including but not limited to sales tracking forms, weekly sales summary reports, Inspection GP reports, and additional reporting as it becomes available.

* Assist senior management to improve special hazards sales performance, account retention, and to drive profitability.

* Assess and determine staffing requirements, maintain overall responsibility for hiring.  Assist in the training process of all new Special Hazards team members.

* Develop guidelines and monitor the performance for the type of customer visits, the frequency of visits and the documentation to be covered at each visit.

* Ensure the office is fully utilizing the online bid approval process; assisting the Control Center with scheduling inspections when required and updating all manual contract renewals in a timely manner.

* Act as escalation and management support for the Special Hazards team to ensure internal disputes are handled in a timely manner, customer disputes have a quick and fair resolution, and in general the special Hazard team integrates well within the offices.

* Help identify emerging markets and market shifts as well as understanding new products and competition status in each market.

* Present realistic sales forecasts to the senior management team on a quarterly basis.

* Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:  

* Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred

* 5 plus years' experience in inspections and installation.

* Knowledge of or the ability to learn alarm and detection systems.

* Fire Alarm Systems (Siemens, Kidde, Notifier, Fire Lite, Silent Knight, Gamewell/FCI)

* Pre-action detection & controls

* Clean Agent Systems (Ansul, Fike, Siemens, Kidde, etc.)

* Knowledge of NFPA Requirements

* NICET Level I or II (preferred but not required)

* Intermediate Electricity and Electronics knowledge

* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Excellent communicator at all levels: customers, team members, executive level management

* Effective delegator who holds employees accountable

* Motivated self-starter possessing excellent organizational skills

* Understanding of blueprints, schematics, and other technical specifications

Other Duties:
