Position Description
This a responsible professional position with limited administrative and supervisory duties at the unit level. Specific duties include testing, psychological evaluation and diagnostic services as well as counseling assigned patient caseload. This position functions under the supervision of a higher level licensed psychologist, but the individual has full professional responsibility for higher actions and advice.

Major/Essential Functions
- Communicates respectfully with team members and supervisor in a timely manner utilizing direct, complete, and adequate information.
- Dependability - on time for treatment team, arranges coverage, notifies team members of absences.
- Scheduling - Patient's ITP's are reviewed based on timeframes stipulated in current policies and pertaining to release planning.
- Contribution- reports relevant information regarding inmate's symptoms in context of the current DSM to corroborate diagnoses of record and current level of functioning so treatment teams can adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Coordination-assists in the interviewing of inmates and other staff members using professional and assertive verbal/non-verbal communication.
- Staff member monitors each offender patient prior to a tx team review.
- Manages treatment team referrals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic approach and creates and maintains positive therapeutic environment.
- The clinician serves as and demonstrates knowledge of the patient advocate's role in representing the inmate's right to refuse treatment in accordance with procedural hearings.
- Documents using appropriate forms in the EMR, professional language, supports clinical assessment with objective information/observation, and avoids jargon.
- Serves as and demonstrates knowledge of the non-treating mental health professional's role and responsibilities in conjunction with the hearing for non-emergency compelled medication.
- Crisis Management: Evaluate for appropriateness for potential inpatient services and either refer to Diagnostic and Evaluation or discharge back to unit of assignment. May include crisis counseling and/or assessment of potential harm to self or others.
- Attends / participates/ completes training required to meet requirements set forth by TTUHSC, TDCJ and TSBSWE.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
