Sr. Research Program Manager
The Department of Neurology is seeking a Sr. Research Program Manager for the Multiple Sclerosis Center. The Sr. Research Program Manager will have primary management responsibilities for all aspects of on-going existing investigator and/or industry initiated clinical trials and research staff. This position will report to the Center's Project Administrator and will work in collaboration with multiple Physician-Investigators. The Sr. Research Program Manager will contribute to building the capacity of the center's research program by providing guidance on budget planning, the effective utilization of resources, and development and implementation of trainings for personnel to effectively carry out research activities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day research activities and staff for several research studies.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, education, training and supervision of the clinical research coordinators.
  • Work directly with the principal investigator, study coordinators, and a research fellow to execute multiple study protocols.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of study protocols as well as knowledge of the key principles of clinical trials design and practice. Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and their requirements.
  • Provide protocol training to research staff.
  • In coordination with the Project Administrator develop policies and procedures for clinical research and continuing education and research staff within the Center; implement policies and procedures; conduct and update trainings.
  • Responsible for overall effective and efficient management of program activities.
  • Actively assess workload and assignments among research staff.
  • Facilitate effective teamwork among research staff and fellows, data management, and other personnel.
  • Communicate regularly with principal investigator and collaborators to review study progress.
  • Prepares and maintains study protocols and reports for the Institutional Review Board and sponsors.
  • Adhere to all protocol and regulatory requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
  • Assist with development and ongoing maintenance of standard operating procedures and work plans.
  • Assures project management tasks are completed (i.e. prioritize, timeliness, milestones, monitoring, status).
  • Assure team productivity; develop and lead improvements in team functioning as required.
  • May serve as back-up to assist in the collection and processing of data and biospecimens
  • Monitor project budgets and allocation of project resources.
  • May be involved in reconciling study related invoices.
  • Will have supervisory responsibility for two or more members of the research team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in related discipline.
    • Eight years related experience including significant experience in field conducting large research projects.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
    • Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles required.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • PhD in related discipline.

    Starting Salary Range: Min $62,780 - Max $110,010 Annually ($86,390 budgeted; Commensurate with experience)
