Staff Pharmacy evaluates medication use, approval, production and preparation, dispensing and progress of therapy. Prepares and maintains all records on prescriptions and patient charges. Advises and communicates to other health care professionals about safe and effective medicine use.
Position Summary
Acts as a resource & provides answers to drug questions for patients, family, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, medical students, undergraduate & graduate pharmacy & students & others. Approval & implementation of new drug orders which may include checking/verifying chemotherapy notes, informed consent & processing non-formulary requests. Screening for drug-drug, drug-allergy, drug-food, drug-disease state and drug-laboratory interactions. Participates in hospital &/or departmental committees. Functions to implement & coordinate all aspects of patients' pharmaceutical needs. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge & skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must be able to demonstrate mediation dosing & identify pharmaceutical needs relative to the disease process & age. This position is also responsible for supervising technicians, undergraduate & graduate student teaching, & providing educational programs for hospital staff. Position located at University Hospitals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. Registered Pharmacist. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
