Staff Roadway Engineer

Pennoni is currently seeking a Staff Roadway Engineer to assist on multi-discipline designs for public infrastructure and private site development projects. This position may also require supervision of support staff and in all aspects of projects, including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed design, construction documentation, permitting documents and engineering reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare roadway design plans for NCDOT projects
• Review local municipal and NCDOT roadway design standards
• Familiarity with general utility design along primary and secondary roadways
• Reviewing and understanding transportation design plans for roadway improvements
• Attend and conduct meetings with client and other design team members
• Perform design quantity take-offs, and develop opinions of construction cost
• Prepare encroachment agreements
• Present technical information to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory requirements
• Complete tasks and assignments as directed by other Project Managers within the timeframes and budgetary constraints of the project
• Serve as a mentor for less experienced staff

Required Attributes:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or similar
• FE / EIT Certification
• 4+ years of professional experience working in roadway design
• Proficient in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word), PDF editing (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.), and MicroStation

Preferred Attributes:

• Professional Engineer (PE) Certification in North Carolina
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Be able to work independently as well as in a team
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision
• Desire and ability to manage and lead less experienced staff
