Position Purpose

To deliver a breakthrough step change in asset reliability performance by assisting with the development and ensuring the execution of the North America reliability strategy (short and long term) and coordinating the mill Reliability Leaders and associated resources to execute their individual Reliability Strategies to meet and exceed expected business deliverable results.

Customers and Customer Expectations

The primary customer is the Kimberly Clark North America leadership team. Other key customers include Plant Managers and Operations leadership (asset performance), Mill and Staff Engineering, and Plant Maintenance. Additional customers include Planning and Distribution, Procurement, and Stores.

Customer expectations are:

  • Establish the reliability technical strategies for the permanent elimination of equipment defects at the root and latent levels.

  • Ensure the equipment reliability aspects of OEE and availability performance is on trajectory to meet and/or exceed target requirements on/ahead of time.

  • Provide Engineering with information and insights to develop "Design for Reliability" capabilities.

  • Deliver highly reliable asset availability performance as required by Planning and Distribution,.

  • Actively supporting the vision of Zero Injuries.

In this role, you will:

This position is accountable for delivering a breakthrough step change in asset performance with a principal focus on the equipment reliability aspects to generate both OEE and cost value creation on/or ahead of schedule. Included in this accountability is the continued development and execution of the reliability strategy to realize the full long-term phases (Intermediate to Advanced).

  • Provide Reliability leadership and thinking to the sector and plant teams to ensure delivery of sector financial requirements and to create a "Culture of Reliability".

  • Lead, resource, develop, and inspire the reliability plan execution including indirect management of the plant level Reliability Leaders.

  • Lead the development and use of sector reliability analysis tools, processes and their associated financial analysis, and general reporting for business management. This includes training of TPM and analytics to Mill and Staff Reliability team members and train the trainer.

This position is accountable to meet customer expectations including:

  • Deliver the value identified associated with the Reliability Strategy on/ahead of time.

  • Work in partnership with the raw materials and process areas to mutually achieve the OEE and cost targets with a primary focus on the equipment reliability aspects.

  • Ensure that the equipment reliability aspects of OEE and availability performance are on trajectory to meet and/or exceed target requirements on/ahead of time.

  • Provide Engineering with information and insights to develop "Design for Reliability".

  • Provide protection to reliability technologies and processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.

  • Locate or create existing, internal or external, or novel technical reliability technology solutions for business value delivery.

  • Maintain technical and scientific expertise in the area of reliability technology and communicate impacts of development of Kimberly-Clark North America.

  • Ensure alignment with Corporate Financial Instructions and Corporate policies.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required/Work Conditions

  • Requires knowledge and ability typically associated with a bachelors or advanced degree(s) in Engineering or related scientific field from an accredited college or university.

  • A minimum of 10 years engineering experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments in a high-speed consumer product manufacturing and/or staff environment.

  • Minimum of 2 years of reliability and maintenance leadership experience in a mill manufacturing or staff leadership role.

  • Incumbent must have the ability to organize and plan, delegate, lead, and inspire people, and maintain effective influence while driving breakthrough thinking and results.

  • The position requires knowledge and experience in business and asset management, including the successful management of organizations/functions or projects to effectively plan and manage change as well as organize integrated systems and processes.

  • A demonstrated ability to perform in cross-functional teams to achieve objectives within required timeframes.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time to execute the leadership responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of reliability and maintenance leadership experience in a mill manufacturing or staff leadership role.

  • In depth technical knowledge and expertise in tissue and/or towel converting and/or high-speed manufacturing or web converting equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Lean principles and strategic thinking to discover best practices, influence the adoption of those practices, and implement sustaining systems to ensure the practices endure at our facilities.
