Position summary:
As the Director of Data Science, you will lead the data science development for novel health data products at the intersection of consumer behavior, health, and related data. Our team delivers solutions which leverage machine learning and other technologies to activate customers for healthier living and create value across multiple business segments.This role brings unique access to an immense dataset at the Fortune 1 with the power to improve health outcomes each day.
About the team:
The Director will manage and grow a high-powered team of data scientists, who operate in collaborative partnerships across business, product and tech teams at Walmart. This role will report to the Group Director of Consumer Health and Data Solutions.
What you'll do:

Develop Health Insight Solutions: Create consumer health insight solutions using health data science and machine learning to enhance value for various Walmart businesses.

Leverage Generative AI: Develop customer activation solutions using generative AI to promote healthy behaviors, enhance trust and loyalty, and boost product sales.

Manage and Optimize Models: Oversee data science model development, validation, testing, tuning, and lifecycle management to ensure accuracy, fit, and robustness.

Team Leadership and Development: Build, coach, and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of success and unified approach to data product development.

Collaborate and Educate: Act as a spokesperson, present data science concepts in business terms, and enable cross-functional learning through education sessions and collaboration with various teams and partners.
What you'll bring: -
Extensive Leadership Experience: Over 10 years in data science leadership roles with a strong industry network, including 5+ years in retail/grocery, healthcare, or health-related fields.

Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of coding languages (SQL, Java, C++, Python), model testing, tuning, validation techniques, and data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Python libraries).

Communication and Influence: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to C-level executives and influence strategic decisions; proven track record in managing full-time and contract teams.

Regulatory and Cross-Functional Alignment: Experience in aligning health data science efforts with regulatory compliance and business/clinical value, and in-depth knowledge of relevant data standards and terminologies.

Project and Budget Management: Demonstrated success in managing large, cross-functional projects, directing budgets, and resources to achieve significant impact on time and on budget.

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field

Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Supervisory experience, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch), We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
