Job Description

SUMMARY: Stride Tutoring is an exciting new startup within Stride's portfolio of companies, focused on building and scaling an innovative educational platform that connects tutors and students. Our aim is to enable students to achieve their educational goals through receiving high-quality, personalized online tutoring from expert, certified teachers. Over time we plan to expand this platform further to serve a broader set of educational needs for a wider range of customers.

As a User Experience Researcher at Stride, you will collaborate closely with marketing, product, design, engineering, customer success, and data partners. This role demands a keen understanding of user experience research throughout the product design lifecycle, collaboration with cross-functional teams, a deep-rooted understanding of human-centered design and design thinking, and a comprehensive knowledge of the EdTech landscapes. Success in this role will require balancing collaborative team dynamics with autonomy and initiative of individual ownership. You must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously at different phases of the product life cycle. Above all, you should be a creative problem-solver and enthusiastic team player.

  • Independently lead research efforts, in collaboration with stakeholders, to support product development across the product development lifecycle - from early market/customer discovery research to feature-specific design and solution validation, platform-wide usability research, and ongoing customer satisfaction measurement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of UX designers, product owners, product managers, developers, marketers, customer success managers, and researchers to clarify and define research objectives.
  • Employ a variety of research methodologies and tools to understand user experiences, needs, goals, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Own research operational and administrative tasks like participant recruiting and gift card distribution.
  • Present and communicate research insights to key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Equip designers, product managers, and other stakeholders with insights about users' experiences to inform the product strategy and development decisions.
  • Work closely with product teams to ensure features and functionality meets users' needs and addresses user feedback, and develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with business goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Establish and own customer satisfaction measurement processes and cadences to ensure that our team regularly gleans actionable insights and feedback from all user types.
  • Create empathy throughout the organization by continuously sharing insights about users' needs, pain points, and experiences.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five (5) years of industry experience in UX research, product research, or related fields (such as psychology, UX design, software development, etc.) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute product strategies.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team by identifying areas for optimization and implementing strategies for enhancement.
  • Deep knowledge of human-centered design and product research methodologies, tools, and best practices needed across the product development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse personalities and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Additionally, you should have experience with building surveys, developing unmoderated tests, synthesizing analytics dashboards, and facilitating moderated usability tests and interviews.
  • Ability to pivot and adapt, when necessary.
  • Strategic thinker, creative problem-solver and enthusiastic team player.
  • Microsoft (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Ability to clear required background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or industry-recognized certification in a relevant field such as human-computer-interaction, human factors, psychology, sociology, or product management.
  • Prior experience conducting user experience or product research within the EdTech sector.
  • Knowledge of the EdTech market and trends.
  • Understanding of GDPA, COPPA, and FERPA standards, and other user experience research ethical standards.
  • Experience using Heap, Hotjar, Qualtrics, UserTesting.com, Figma, and other similar tools related to user experience design and research.

Compensation & Benefits:Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.

We anticipate the salary range to be $84,457.50 to $171,715.20. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
