Job Description:
Join the Nebraska State Patrol as a key player in ensuring our vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art technology! Your role will involve:
•Installing and Removing Equipment: Handle everything from two-way radios and sirens to vehicular repeaters and mounting consoles. Your expertise will ensure our cruisers are ready for action.
•Repair and Maintenance: Keep our high-tech systems running smoothly by troubleshooting and repairing installed equipment, ensuring every vehicle is in top-notch condition.
•Statewide Travel: Be prepared to hit the road! You'll have opportunities to travel across Nebraska for installations, modifications, and repairs, with some overnight stays included.
•Additional Duties: Embrace a variety of tasks that support the mission of the Nebraska State Patrol.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Two-year vocational degree in electronics, electricity, or other similar technologies and experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing electronic devices/instruments, computer equipment, or related automated/electrical circuitry and hardware. Additional years of experience in the work described may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.

Other: A valid driver's license is required or ability to provide independent authorized transportation. If selected for this position, you must meet the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services employment eligibility requirements by completing an EEV (I-9) Form. The agency does not sponsor H1-B Visa's. Must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Applicants will be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check, and before unconditional employment is offered. Applicants must be free of felony convictions, and cannot maintain continuous association or dealings with persons, groups, or organizations that they know, or should know, are persons or groups or organizations under criminal investigation or indictment or who have a reputation for present, ongoing involvement in felonious or criminal behavior. Selection process will include an interview. Failure to complete all areas of your employment application may result in your application being disqualified from our selection process.Overtime opportunities are available at a pay rate of 1.5.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with power and hand tools essential for installing and maintaining vehicle equipment. Basic knowledge of electronic test equipment, like voltmeters and RF wattmeter's, will be crucial for troubleshooting.
  • Wiring Expertise: Strong understanding of vehicle wiring, along with the ability to read schematic diagrams and installation manuals.
  • Physical Capability: Comfort with physical tasks-standing, kneeling, crawling, and occasionally lying under vehicles to secure wiring and equipment. You'll need to lift and position assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to construct or modify equipment during installation to achieve optimal functionality.
