Position Summary:

The Vice President of Manufacturing will provide strategic leadership and direction for our coffee manufacturing

operations, which includes oversight of Maintenance, Engineering, Processing, and Packaging to ensure production

operations runs smoothly, efficiently, and on budget. With a key focus on profitability, you will be making immediate

and necessary changes to improve efficiencies, reduce waste, reduce shrink, implement capital investment projects,

and enhance the overall performance of the workforce. Through the optimization of production processes and

manufacturing excellence, the VP of Manufacturing will pave the way for our future and lead the right teams across

Operations into the next generation of Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA. You will be accountable for delivering a best-

in-class manufacturing environment while fostering a culture adaptive to change and focused on continuous

improvement to help drive the growth of the business.

Functional Areas:

Manufacturing Oversight: Ensure efficient production processes and strive for continuous improvement in product quality.

Engineering Management: Oversee engineering projects to align with company goals and innovate

manufacturing processes.

Production Planning: Develop strategic production plans to meet market demands, optimize resources, and reduce waste.

Quality Assurance: Lead initiatives to maintain high-quality standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Purchasing: Manage procurement strategies to maintain supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Collaboration: Work closely with other leaders to support company objectives and promote cross-functional teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies, objectives, and plans to ensure efficiency and profitability goals are met; this includes creating measurable short and long-term plans.
  • Make necessary changes to deliver best in class manufacturing operations - meeting established profitability goals across all departments in Operations.
  • Establish leadership and performance objectives to ensure the right initiatives are in place to drive success.
  • Oversee process controls to ensure high-quality output.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and engagement to drive results.
  • Utilize Kaizen and lean manufacturing principles, including Six Sigma, and other methodologies to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Promote a safe culture and oversee the Safety/EHS team to ensure compliance and a safe work environment across all departments / shifts.
  • Assess and develop leaders, partnering with HR to measure and address performance, succession, and retention.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the entire operations, including production, engineering, and maintenance functions.
  • Develop a culture of innovation and a change management mindset within the manufacturing organization.
  • Utilize data-driven approach to analyze root cause and effect change.
  • Leadership: Guide the manufacturing, engineering, production planning, quality, and purchasing teams to achieve operational excellence.
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute the overall manufacturing strategy aligned with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Drive manufacturing excellence through lean manufacturing principles, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align manufacturing capabilities with market demands and business growth strategies.
  • Partner closely with sales and product development to help ensure the right product mix for production efficiencies and meeting profitability targets
  • Key Relationships: with Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Logistics, Purchasing
Financial Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while meeting financial targets.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure manufacturing performance, identify areas for cost savings, and optimize resources.
  • Ensure profitability by controlling labor, material costs, and overhead expenses while maintaining quality and production efficiency.
  • Develop plans to significantly reduce waste and shrink, as well as participate in SKU rationalization opportunities related to efficiencies - working closely with inventory control and Operations Finance.
Processing & Packaging
  • Optimize production processes to ensure Quality expectations are met and aligned to support operational/sales goals.
  • Ensure roasting and production planning schedules are aligned with demand to ensure adequate inventory and on-time deliveries; this requires close collaboration with Sales, Product Development, Logistics, and Purchasing.
  • Continuously evaluate overhead and labor costs and make improvements where needed.
Engineering
  • Lead the engineering team to support optimal production operations, total assent utilization - including process design, equipment optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
  • Monitor, analyze, and ensure engineering projects are executed on time, within budget, and meet safety and performance requirements.
Maintenance:
  • Oversee the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment is maintained and in optimal condition.
  • Develop and implement TPM, reliability, and preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment dependability.
  • Monitor and analyze maintenance performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to improve throughput.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Must have a strong background in process manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance in a consumer packaged goods environment.
  • Experience in coffee roasting and packaging strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale manufacturing operations, driving change, process improvements, and achieving operational excellence.
  • Extensive experience with Kaizen, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles related to manufacturing processes, equipment design, and maintenance systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic manufacturing plans, as well as assess and lead teams to execute them effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing manufacturing budgets and performance metrics.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, and quality management systems.
  • Must be a strategic thinker with proven ability to develop and implement strategies that drive operational success.
