Job Description:


The Department of Biology at Clark University invites applications for a part-time Visiting Assistant Professor to teach Genetics and Disease in the Fall 2024 beginning in August 2024. This course is an upper-level undergraduate/graduate course focusing on the genetic basis of human disease. Topics covered vary from year to year, but have frequently included review of Mendelian vs polygenic disorders, genome analytical methods such as GWAS and CGH, pedigree analysis, personalized medicine (VUS, susceptibility), cancer genetics, gene therapy and CRISPR genome editing. The course has used a mixed format, with both lecture and discussion of primary literature; students also select a human disorder/disease to examine in detail and present a literature review of it in the form of an essay and a poster presentation. The course is currently scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:50-4:05 pm. The appointment requires a Ph.D. in Biology or related fields. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of potential for teaching excellence in biology.



Requirements:


Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related fields. Those with experience in research or industry are encouraged to apply.
