Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:Teaches undergraduate social work courses (12 hours in fall/ 12 hours in spring) in the Department of Social Work.
Essential Duties Summary:Teaches classes in the Social Work Department. Connects at-risk students with appropriate supportive services at TSU to address barriers to academic achievement, such as the Student Accessibility Services Office, campus tutoring, and the Counseling Center. Submits student progress reports, midterm grades, attendance reports, and final grades on time. Collects and reports data required for the Social Work Department Assessment and Strategic Plan. Attends required/mandatory university, college, and departmental meetings and trainings. Provides academic advisement to social work majors. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Hiring Range:Commensurate with experience.
Education:Requires a Master's degree (MA/MS/AM/MASW/MSSW/MSW) from a CSWE-accredited social work program.
Required Licensing/Certification:None required; LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:The Visiting Instructor should have knowledge and skills related to generalist social work practice. The Visiting Instructor will function as an important part of the Social Work Department team, through delivery of a set curriculum, identifying at-risk students and campus resources to address barriers to student success, and exercising compliance with university, college, and departmental policies. The Visiting Instructor must have excellent communication and documentation skills, as well as possess expertise in social work practice, research, theory, and policy, in order to teach across the curriculum. It is expected that the Visiting Instructor possess cultural awareness, and ability to work with culturally diverse faculty and students. Must be comfortable using email and learning platforms, such as Blackboard, as well as operating desktop computers and LCD projectors.
Work Experience:Requires a minimum of one year of professional social work practice or teaching experience.
Working/Environmental Conditions:Visiting Instructors should follow all safety procedures. There is no heavy lifting required as a part of the position.
