Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:Provides academic instruction in assigned Sociology classes and provides advising and academic support to students in the department. Will also perform faculty duties associated with service to the department and college.
Essential Duties Summary:Teaches classes in the Department of Sociology. Provides academic advising for students in the department. Provides academic support to students in the form of assessment, evaluation, and mentoring. Serves on college/school/ and university committees as required. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education:Requires a Master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:The successful candidate will be required to contribute in teaching and service at a level necessary to help the department function effectively. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to advising and mentoring students. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be able to work with a diverse student and faculty population. Must be able to use personal computers, Microsoft Office software and have familiarity with typical academic support systems such as Blackboard and Degree Works.
Work Experience:Requires a minimum of three years of experience (five years preferable) as an instructor in a sociology program in a four-year college or university.
Working/Environmental Conditions:Working conditions require following basic safety precautions. Physical demands include moderate physical activity that includes prolonged standing and/or walking, handling moderate weight objects and/or using or carrying equipment. Work may require routine travel.
