Job Summary
As a Welding Engineer at BPMI, you will perform welding engineering evaluations, analysis, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks which may include a combination of several functions involving the design, fabrication, installation, and refurbishment of equipment.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with the review/preparation of welding and process instructions, standards, and specifications.
- Prepare, follow, and report welding development programs.
- Assist in providing welding engineering oversight of supplier processing and fabrication procedures.
- Assist with analysis of welding conditions.
- Troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Assist with in-service inspections and evaluations.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 for newer college graduates.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering (with an interest in physical metallurgy) preferred.
- Two years of experience.
- Application of welding in the design and fabrication of equipment. Preparation and interpretation of welding specifications and standards, and the metallurgy of materials to fabricate plant equipment or pressure vessels is desirable.
